Mª Carmen López Villacañas
Úbeda (Jaén) 21/10/1975
She currently lives and works in Cuenca.
She is graduated in Fine Arts and Design Techniques with the specialty of Engraving and Imprinting (Plan 1963) at the Art school “Casa las Torres Ubeda” and licensed in Fine Arts from the UCLM.
She has participated in different formation courses related with graphic works like Lithography in stone and metal, imparted by Antonio Gayo at the International Centre of Contemporary Stamp of Betanzos, Workshop in Mixed printing techniques: Fusion Engraving additive and Screen Printing Techniques, imparted by Pavel Albert, a workshop Artist Book, Conceptualization and creation of artist books in Ivorypress Gallery (Madrid) and Workshops of Contemporary Art in International university of Andalusia.
She has worked as a stamper for artists such as Rafael Canogar, Monique de Roux and Alvaro Delgado.
Matias Quetglas, Cristóbal Toral and Vicente Arnás from the Madrid workshop of original graphic artwork, street Pradillo, 54 (1998-99). She has also stamped from her studio in Ubeda works of several artists including the book of The Capital Sins of artist Pablo Alvarez de Toledo. This work was awarded like the best unrealeased work in the TENTACIONES section of the IX Edition of Stamp, 2001.
Since 2003, she works as a teacher in the specialited Workshop of Engraving at the José María Cruz Novillo School of Arts, Cuenca. During this time she has realised a parallel teaching work. A lot of activities related with the Multiple work as the coordination of the round table of Intellectual property in the printmaking, (2007) and the course of artistic serigraph taught by serigrapher Christian M. Walter in collaboration with the Antonio Pérez Foundation of Cuenca(2006).
She has collaborated in the Grand Tour project of Claves de Arte Foundation, (2008). University of Antonio de Nebrija.
She is currently the coordinator of Erasmus mobility project for graduates in professional formation at the Arts School of Cuenca from which pretend to promote mobility of students graduates in the cycle of Artistic Silkscreen with the enforcement of business practices in various workshops of editing in graphic art in Venice and Berlin.
As an artist she has made two individual exhibitions Masun/Mamen, 2001 at the Hospital of Santiago de Úbeda and Elegía de un Lamento, 2014 in the exhibition room of the Arts School of José María Cruz Novillo Cuenca and several itinerant collective exhibitions in Andalusia, Cuenca and Rio Grande (Brazil).
She is currently working on an art project Sin Pecado Concebida which will be materialized in an exhibition with her son Daniel Lopez Villacañas in the San Lorenzo Church of Ubeda in the coming months of May and June with the collaboration of the Isadora Duncan Foundation and Huertas of San Antonio. The project includes a round table whose principal theme is the situation of administrative discrimination against single parent families “single mothers and their bastards” today.
